Intermediate French Part I

with Dennis Michaud

Class has begun

This second level of the LIVING LANGUAGE FRENCH continues to build onto the basic, essential elements of the four language skills to be acquired in French communication: listening, reading, writing and speaking that were introduced and emphasized in your first full year of French. You will use Book 2: Intermediate French of the LIVING LANGUAGE FRENCH, Complete Edition program. This second year of French continues to strive to give students an experience that is natural, very smooth, user friendly, gently progressive, continuously sustaining in building student confidence and progress, personalized, enjoyable and rewarding. Audio CDs accompany the Book 2 textbook/workbook home preparation and in-class sessions. The overall approach of Book 2: Intermediate French treats five general topical units: 1. Greetings and Introductions, 2. Everyday Life, 3. At a Restaurant, 4. Using the Telephone and 5. Asking for Directions. Each one of these five units are developed systematically and progressively through their four relevant separate lessons from single words, to phrases, to sentences and finally to sustained conversations. Students will incorporate into their progressive conversational styles: the present, past and future verbal forms, as well as giving commands and expressing themselves through “conditional” statements. Sub-topics covered in Part I, beginning September 10th, will include Numbers 1-20, Yes/No Questions, To Be and To Have, Review of Adjectives, More on Adjectives, Question Words, Using Adjectives in Sentences, Using Multiple Adjectives in Sentences, Days, Months And Weather, Infinitive Verbs of the First Group Ending in –ER. Free online audio-visual flashcards and interactive games and quizzes also provide additional home-study reinforcement for all of the lessons’ topics.

To enroll in enrichment classes, participants must be at least 18 years old and not enrolled in school.
