French for Beginners, Part I

French for Beginners, Part I is comprised of the first seven classes of the Fall Semester of the first year of a three-year progressive French program with its levels named Essential, Intermediate and Advanced. During this first year of Essential French, students begin to use basic French sounds, words and sentences through a progressive, simple and pleasant approach as they learn to listen, read, write and speak in French from the very first day of class. Topics covered in Part I will include essential French expressions, people, the family and numbers. Dennis Michaud has an M.A.T. in French and is a Maine certified teacher. He has taught at the University level in addition to teaching adult education classes.

French Multi-Level Interactive Group, Part I

This is an interactive learning atmosphere whereby the learners can be at the beginner, intermediate, or advanced levels and benefit from interactive student involvement by learning from the instructor and from mentors that want to communicate in French. This learning approach requires a commitment to other learners at different levels and a devotion to the French language and culture. The multiple levels manuals are supported with three CDs at each level. The learning materials are structured for enjoyment and the ease of learning. All four language skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking) are emphasized at all levels. Dennis Michaud has an M.A.T. in French and is a Maine certified teacher. He has taught at the University level in addition to teaching adult education classes.

Gentle Restorative Yoga

We offer gentle restorative classes that combine yoga postures, breathing, and meditation. These classes are geared toward students who wish to move at a slower pace. No Yoga experience is required. Gentle Restorative Yoga provides a beautiful way to softly relax the body up and stretch yourself out. Yoga provides the means to bring out the best in each individual. This requires an understanding of a person’s present condition, personal potential, appropriate goals and the means available. As each person is different, these will vary with each individual. No experience necessary. Please bring your own Yoga mat.

Intermediate and Advanced Painting/Drawing

This course is designed for individuals who have been painting and drawing for two years or more and want to learn more about composition, color mixing, new techniques, and other related art issues. This class will focus on specific art interests and expand knowledge about painting and drawing. Participants will work in the medium of their choice: watercolor, acrylic, pastel or charcoal/graphite. Instruction will be individualized to meet specific needs. A group critique of art work will follow at the end of each class. David Haskins teaches art at Husson University. Before moving to Maine, David was a full-time artist working and teaching in Colorado.

You will experience some new and amazing flavor combinations! Cathy Speronis, has been baking her well-known “Wicked” pies and “Creative” cakes and desserts for over ten years and is regularly featured on WABI.
